Thanks for the explanation, Brad. I've always had trouble getting past the stereotypical image as well, although I realize I've been selling myself for a long time.

For me, it's the thought, "Who am I to tell them they NEED this?" Even though, intellectually, I know they DO. (I'm thinking of my Ignite biz - after all, who wouldn't WANT lower electricity bills? And who wouldn't WANT to make a passive income?)

This promises to be a good series - looking forward to the rest of it.

Thanks, Karen, for inviting my favorite salesman over for tea!

Ooh, I'm looking forward to this series. I'm one of those people who don't fit the stereotype of that typical sales person (marketing is more my style) and I've never had much talent when it comes to persuasion. This article has me seeing sales in a different light -- the key being that first you help someone determine if they need your services, then you proceed with the persuasion.

Hi Karen/Brad,

Unfortunately, the word 'sales' has a negative connotation in the minds of many.

Thank you, Brad, for debunking some myths about the sterotype - it's great to see that not all salespeople are pushy, rude people who don't take no for an answer.

Cheers

Andrew
