<description>I guess it depends on why you are running the race.
But then again, sometimes we lose track of what those reasons were in the first place and get caught up in the motivations of others.

One interesting thing about running is pacing. Learning to run at your own best pace. You train at the pace that is best for you and yet, when you get out in a race with others and are running beside them, it is very easy to get caught up in running their pace instead of your own. Suddenly you are running too fast and burn out way before the finish line, or too slow and miss your time.

Learning how to run our own race in the face of other runners is a real challenge. It takes a lot of practice to get to know ourselves that well.

<description>I&#039;ve been in a 10 km race once, where I pushed too hard, and had to stop running for 2 minutes, just to puke my guts out.

There are times, the Race we call Life feels the same way! ;-)

		<description>Hi Karen,

Great post :)

I&#039;ve always viewed the race the same way.

I also believe that in times of hardship, the race is more like a relay. Sometimes we take 3 of the 4 places, sometimes 2 and sometimes we can only manage to take the baton once, relying on those we love to run some of the race for us.

It&#039;s nice to have a relay team back you up though :)
