My Social Media Policy
Hello and Welcome! Social media plays a significant role in my life on a professional and personal basis. As the landscape continues to expand, I have had to adapt my use, management and policies of social media tools.
While I am open to connecting with new followers, I want the experience to be pleasant for both of us. So that we get the best from one another, I have outlined what you can expect from me and in turn what I hope to get from you.
Personal code of conduct
I fluctuate between quiet and chatty so be warned. I am the most chatty on Twitter and the most quiet on LinkedIn. I will ALWAYS communicate with respect and honor, and refrain from intentionally demeaning or offensive posts or updates. I will talk about my business, promote my services and let you know when I have new posts. However, my primary purpose for social media is to communicate, share resources and get to know you.
Rules of Engagement
I expect you to keep it clean and respectful. If every update contains a string of profanity, you litter your conversation with the n-bomb or pornographic references, you are angry and confrontational, you make disparaging remarks about issues without respecting that others may not share the same views or you are nude in your avatar photo, I’m not the right person to add to your following. (Yea, long list but the recent spate of ugliness on Twitter forces me to be hard core)
If you use me to spam people by @ replying me on twitter with a link to landing page, I will not only unfollow you but block you and report you as a spammer.
As of today, I use a combination of auto follow and vetting on Twitter but that may change. If you really want to engage and I have not followed you back, please @ me so that I can reciprocate the following.
If you’ve made it this far, we are on our way to being friends.
So, here’s where and how you can connect!
Twitter. I have two accounts, a main account and an account for the career marketing side of my business (I use this account to share info and resources related to careers, and it is primarily a broadcast account).

Facebook. Clients, and friends are more than welcome to connect here but all others should connect via the business page. I am connected to family members who are minors and fiercely guard their privacy so please DO NOT go through my followers and send out invitations unless you know them too.
LinkedIn. I am always happy to expand my network and welcome your connection. Please be advised that I do email my LinkedInConnections 3-6 times per year, you will have the option to unsubscribe but if you are connecting and don’t ever want to hear from me, then it’s probably best not to connect.
FriendFeed. I am very open to connections here. However, if you have a private feed, and I do not know you I will not request a subscription without a communication from you indicating why we should connect.
Thanks for reading and if it works for you, then I look forward to connecting!
