Love is in the air….
There is something about February that fills me with hope. It is after all a month in which we celebrate L-O-V-E. It’s hard to resist smiling when you are surrounded by heart shapes, messages of love and every conceivable concoction of chocolate. So this month, love will bloom here too. I don’t often write to a theme but this month lends itself nicely to a targeted focus.
Within the theme we’ll learn to love (or leave) our careers with tips on finding the one you love, nurturing and growing your relationship with your company and breaking up gracefully. We’ll explore how employers can help you fall in love with them by creating an engaged, inspired work place.
Entrepreneurs will not be left out as we learn to love self-promotion without becoming a self-absorbed bore and create loving relationships with our customers. And what’s love without a little fun, there will be plenty of that too including a little writing challenge.
Today, I’m sending a little love the groundhog’s way, hoping the little guy tells us that the cold days of winter are almost over.
I look forward to chatting with you this month and hey if you’re having fun here, tell a friend. We LOVE (bwah ha ha) new people. 🙂
A few things I love today:
- The brand new home of Janice Cartier decorated by Men With Pens
- Joanna Young’s audacious new blog design
- The World’s Longest Blog Post Group Writing Project
- Love and Words Blog
How about you? What are you loving today? Please fee free to share in the comments.

Beautiful image. I often watch nature, from insects to animals to birds to the clouds, and they are all so loving and adorable if you watch them long enough. I’ve also seen duck gang rape in a pond… but… anyway.
Cool theme idea. Ah love. I think I have finally learned what love is not.

Hey,
I am loving the heavy snowfall we are getting in Dublin at the moment.
We haven’t had such a heavy fall in years, and it’s so damn pretty 🙂

What I love right now is that I’m on a great ski vacation. Far from work. Far from all the B.S. back at home. Spending some quality time skiing with my 68-year-old Mom (who kicks my butt on the slopes!)
And I love the fact that I can DO this right now. Because there were many years that I couldn’t .
But right now, the stars are all aligned. I have the money. I have the health. I have the time. And my Mom has HER health (she was very ill a few years ago).
So I’m enjoying it when I can… I love winter! I love skiing!
…despite what the snow-haters like Wendi might say! 😉

You all,
Sometimes I’ve got the feeling that the word “love” is used too much, without actually “meaning” it. But here, in this wonderful community, I can feel the truth behind the word “love” and I enjoy it deeply. Sending my love to all of you – and my hugs –
Ulla

There is something in the air this morning, just something wonderfully delicious and heart expanding, and fun. Love? Or just the desire for it, the desire for more of the good stuff that we all have to give. Whatever it is, sign me up and let me pass it on. *Sigh* I am off to meet a deadline today. One I normally would never have shared in public a year ago. And my new lovely home still has a few dust covers to be unwrapped , content to be revealed, but I cannot think of a more lovely group of people to have over to grab a bite from the fridge, share the wine on the unpacked boxes, and laugh with fondly as we all go about getting our dreams. Love, yes. Emphatically.

@ Joanna, I am so glad the self-promotion piece hits home. I’m keen to share some things I’ve learned that helped me make a shift. Your tenacity theme will be a tremendous help to me this month. Cheers to great discussions and lots of love. 🙂
@Andrew, beautifully said and I share your love. I also appreciate you so much, your kindness, graciousness and your always respectful tone. I’m so glad that Brad introduced us.
@Brad, I didn’t even think of that but by golly you’re right! That puts me in mind of the 70s when we were singing about peace and love in a time of upheaval. Bring on the love!

Karen, What a refreshing change of pace. The news over the last several months has been overwhelmingly negative. We all need some LOVE!!

Karen,
Good topic choice, no doubt almost everybody on planet earth has at some stage in their life had to experience of being both the giver and the recipient of love, so there should be plenty of interesting stories coming out of these discussions.
What am I loving today? Well, I am fully conscious of the fact that not all Words for Hire readers will feel share my sentiments with respect to religion, and I certainly do not intend to cause offense to those who hold beliefs which differ from my own. But, what I love most, this day and every day, is he who I believe; (a) created me; (b) is the author behind all wonderful things which I enjoy in life; and (c) has forgiven my sins through the sacrifice of his son on the cross.
