Oh My Gosh! I just climbed out from under my rock and realised I have not updated this since people stopped clapping and Tinkerbell died… You would not believe how good I look after all the plastic surgery. Dudes!.
I am lost in a sea of pseudo-olde-english with learning to play lawn bowls, choosing my retirement village, just generally being the life of the party to anyone unfortunate to cross my path, my day is a magical flight from 8am to 11pm at which point I fall asleep on the couch. I am totally loving it, dudes. life happens.
I won’t promise anything to you but I will write something that makes sense soon. Seriously! Seriously?.
By this point, you may be scratching your head wondering if I am out of my head or on medication. The silly post above was generated using the Lazy Bloggers Post Generator. I could have chosen any multitude of options.
I have lots of posts, stories and ideas but thought it would be fun to try new creativity techniques and happened upon this little tool. Brainstorming and idea generation can lead to breakthroughs in thinking. The process of allowing free thought without censure can help you to move past blocks caused by rational thought. It is also a great way to keep your mind young and your perspective fresh.
How do you keep your thinking fresh? What is your favorite brainstorming technique?

Karen,
This is great — the perfect way to apologize to my readers for my super-sparse posting schedule lately!
Thanks for sharing it!

I tried it out and had some fun with it and even got a post idea, so if I were stuck for a post, then I’d definitely use this kind of tool to provide me with inspiration. Fortunately I generally have more topics than available slots, so I don’t worry too much about it. 😉

LOL is right! Why is it that my best ideas always come to me when I don’t have a pen and paper handy? 🙂

All – I promise I was not being lazy in responding to all of you! It was one of those Mondays that took off like a speeding train and never stopped!
@Robert, lol! I love it! We could all use the laugh break, don’t ya think? 🙂
@Joanna, I’m so glad I made you smile! 🙂 It was such a nice relaxing weekend. I’m so glad I was rested or I never would have made it through yesterday!
@Andrew, another state or country sounds so wonderful, please take me with you! 🙂
@Terry, ROFL! I would love a commenting system. In fact I wish I could just speak my comments and they typed themselves. I am often talking, nodding and laughing while reading so it could be *ahem* interesting.
@Rebecca, I love the idea of brainstorming with a partner, two heads really are better than one. I read a study that said brainstorming in teams is most effective when the people like one another. With your partner and husband I bet that adds to the success. Isn’t that just like our brains to come up with great ideas when we have shampoo head or are out with our dogs and scoopers? LOL!
@Brad, lol! Aha! I always wondered where all the wit and creativity come from with you, you seem to have an endless supply. Caffeine and client debriefs sound like a winning combination!
@Michele, I am even more tickled by your comment now that your secret is out! 🙂
@Roland, so many people swear by mind maps. I’ve used them too and they are effective but I’m so easily distracted I tend to get caught up in making them pretty that I forget what I’m supposed to be doing! LOL about the Amazon links. I had to share, right? 🙂
Roland Hesz says
Also, shame on you, your last two links went to amazon – you sent me into the mortal dangers of a webshop with books! :))

Gosh, I loved this one :))
I don’t know how I keep my thinking fresh – if I do – but a bajillion fan-mails are not part of it. And I usually end up with not writing anything of my thoughts.
But I made a mindmap yesterday, which is actually a tree with it’s roots in the sky and the leaves near the ground level.
I’m serious, now I need creative ideas how to prevent the roots from catching fire as the Sun passes them by.

Karen, With this post I don’t know whether you are being lazily creative or creatively lazy, but either way I love it. There’s nothing like mass production originality to get my oxymoronic juices flowing. Two methods of brainstorming usually work for me. One way is to go to Starbucks and inject caffeine into my system until my brain shorts out. This works very well for cartoon captions. The other way is when I come away from an intense client interaction and ask, what just happened? The notes form these sessions usually have the seeds of several blog post.s

Karen, this is hilarious! (Although I got a bit upset when I read that Tinkerbell was dead …)
I do my best brainstorming with my associate writer or even my husband. Bringing someone new to a writing project always brings some fresh perspective. When all else fails, though, I always come up with my best ideas either in the shower or while walking the dog!

Dude. How cool is that. You totally rocked my world with that one.

Karen,
There are many ways to keep the flow of fresh perspectives and ideas flowing, but I think reading widely, meeting new people and exposing oneself to new ideas on a consistent basis is a good start.
The occasional trip away, perhaps to another state or country or even to a nearby place which you don’t often visit does not hurt either.

Holy Blog Of Doom, Batman! I just got slapped with a wet salmon – really – I have not updated this since they let me out!… You would not believe that I’d been abducted by aliens. Apologies to my regular readers! Even the little blue ones!.
I am flat out like a lizard drinking with responding to fanmail, choosing my retirement village, just generally being not online in order to every man and his dog, my day seems to involve the authorities from the light through yonder window breaks to whenever. I am convinced that I absolutely deserve this after all my hard work. it will be fun fun fun till they take my TBird away.
I will try to remember I promised you I will update you with my nefarious activities as soon as I get a chance. Well, I’ll try. Assuming I don’t get distracted by counting my chest hairs.
