The world is in need of strong, confident leaders. Those who have the courage to make decisions based on what is good and right and not what is popular. Those who are sensitive yet not swayed by emotion when it comes time to make tough choices that are right. Whether you choose to boldly step up or quietly lead, we all have have an opportunity each day to be a leader. When your leadership moment arrives, will you be ready?

Hi Walter! There is definitely a void in leadership but I am inspired that each of us has the power to change that as we stand up and demonstrate leadership in our own lives. We all know what happens when good men (and women) do nothing. 🙂

Wendi, I loved this line” “that’s OK , I go where the good Lord needs me.” Amen sister! LOL! The homeowners story is harrowing but what I know of you, not at all surprised that you stood your ground. It’s interesting as I read that it made me think of our country as a whole. Your situation happens on a large scale everyday, the elite few fight to hold on to what is best for them while the majority struggle for a little bit of equality.

Andrew, I have watched you demonstrate leadership in so many ways. Your strength of conviction and integrity were immediately obvious to me. Even though you are not the “out front” type (yes I can tell) you have quiet leadership that shows up in everything you do.
I agree with you about political leadership. Very tough when there are so many complex decisions and there is nothing you can ever do that will make everyone happy.

Good leaders are hard to come by these days. Sadly, most of our leaders today are corrupt and lack human concern. Good ones tend to loose their opportunity. 🙂

I seem to be out in that position frequently. Either that or when I’m standing in a group with a bunch of folks, I never seem to notice when they all take a collective step back and I’m the one left standing in front.
That’s OK.I go where the good lord needs me.
Once, in my position as the President of our Neighborhood Homeowner’s subdivision, the board had to make a very controversa decision that was very right for 500 of the homeowners. Sadly 100 off the homeowners, who lived in the more elite section of the neighborhood were enraged, because it brought the 500 up to a higher standard of nicest, therefore narrowing the gap and making them seem less special.
I had threats against my family, threats of lawsuits…riots storming the board meetings.it was bizarre. 5 out of 7 board members quit. I kept saying trust me, when they see how beautiful it looks, they will see that what beautifies one area is good for all. The day the work was done, not another negative word was ever said again. But…that was the scariest leadership time I’ve ever gone through.
Had I not been leading through my convictions of what was right and true, I would have never had the strength to endure that- or put my family through it. It turned out to be a good lesson for us all in the end.

Karen,
Will I be ready – I hope so! Although I am not a natural leader, I personally find that I have done alright when placed in leadership positions, like being President of a Toastmasters club and in teaching (when you ‘lead’ your class).
I like your remark about leadership and popularity. Whilst it is nice for leaders to be well-liked, leadership is not a popularity contest. It’s about making courageous decisions even when those decisions are not popular. This may not result in being liked, but it will result in being well respected.
A good example is political leadership, where those who have the courage to make tough decisions will always win my vote over those who pander to popular opinion.
