I don’t know about you but I am dancing with joy that it is Friday! Whoo hoo! This week has been a mixture of quiet, focused intensity and all manner of serious business. The US Economic news has also dominated conversations and thoughts and let me be frank, it can be one heck of a downer!
The other day, I found myself walking behind three young kids, all about 8 or 9 years old. I was forced to slow down so as not to overtake them and decided to enjoy their childhood banter. As they walked in that funny way that kids do that is part walk, part skip and never in a straight line, they discussed the “big issues” of their day (in between the teasing of course). I grinned as they poked each other, talked of teachers and poked fun at the little girl about “her boyfriend.” These precious little children lifted my heart as I reconnected with my inner child. The experience encouraged me to take a break from all the grownup seriousness and have a little fun.
Ellen Wilson seems to agree and encourages us to roll in the mud like pigs. Well mud, does have therapeutic value, so it may not be such a bad idea. Robert Hruzek decided to embrace the Stress and asks us to write about it in his latest What I Learned From Project. The Deep Friar waxed poetic about the Solar System. It was educational and entertaining and well worth a read. His latest post also has stunning photos that will have you breathing deeply and longing for a mug of cider.
Have some laughs and keep in mind that “this too shall pass.” We can allow ourselves to be trapped by fear or we can take Frank Martin’s advice it and face it head on. If you need a bit of business inspiration Trish Lambert, friend, partner and entrepreneur extraordinaire was interviewed this week on Gaebler.com. Go read and be inspired.
Finally, I need your help. I entered a contest (sound of thunder) and it’s (gulp) based on popularity (sound of earth opening up and swallowing me). So, I need votes! It is the Startup Nation Home-Based 100 Competition. You can vote here. There are many great entries and you’re not limited to voting for just one, so spread the love.
Well, that’s it for this Friday. Go dance in a pile of leaves or roll in the mud but do something fun!
How do you unwind? Any big plans for the weekend? Got a funny joke or story? Hey, it’s all welcome here. Drop a line or two hundred in the comment box. Let’s share the good feelings. 😉

My big unwind this weekend was watching Saturday Night Live so I could catch the debate spoof, which was a serious belly buster. I had a good laugh anyway. I sent you my vote and wish you the best of luck! I hope you win!

Karen,
the weather was that nice yesterday here in Berlin that I went out and took some autumn photographs (not yet uploaded to Flickr, but I will do that today or tomorrow). It was great fun strolling around and taking pics, knowing that one or two of them will go on my blog and bring joy to other people as well.

@Trish, it’s easy to promote people you adore and respect! 🙂
@Friar, I totally dig the deep fried science and am so glad that you got inspired here. Whoo hoo! I would gush all over you but I know how you just love that. LOL! Yea, Fridays, they are awesome!

@Karen
Thanks for the link love! 😉
Wendi inspired me to write about the planets, but the whole science-writing theme is going to continue on my blog. I got the idea based on the great feedback I received right here at Words for Hire.
By the way. I heart Fridays too.
Especially Friday at 4:30.
Because that’s the LONGEST time interval between the here-and-now, and when I have to go back to work on Monday.
